Jpap's 15 gallon dorm tank!

Needs multies. :D

:silly:

Will do Slappy...its not horrible, but I've got a nice clump of hair algae attached to the rotala that's trying to invade the rest of the tank (namely the java fern). The cabomba's looking pretty sad too and I might just do away with it since I don't have the time to deal with it being so needy. I have the weirdest luck with that plant...I'll try to get pics up tomorrow after the wc.

So here they are...before and after...

Did a 50% change today and started to get rid of the massive clump of hair/thread algae on the rotala when I noticed a bunch of the java fern leaves had BBA. So I started to thin the bunch out but it was so thick that I ended up removing the entire thing...which was a mess with all the crap that was stuck in there (:yuck:). So much of the plant was in bad condition that I just scrapped most of it and took out a few healthy portions of the rhizome. I'm sort of sad since that's the original java fern, or part of it, that I got with the rest of my first plants. Hopefully it will return to its glorious state in time. I also thinned out all the crappy stems of cabomba. I did the same thing with the anubias as I did with the java fern since it too was covered in BBA. Some of the dwarf sag is getting infected but it's hard to remove them without creating more of a mess. I think I'll be attempting that next week as well as transferring some over to the left side since the bacopa never worked out.

Essentially, the tank looks worse judging by the pics. But up close you could definitely tell the plants weren't healthy. I haven't dosed a thing since probably before the new year so I'm hoping to start meddling with that again. I'm out of excel unfortunately so we'll see if I can convince myself to spend money on that. I thought about trying out DIY again since this tank is smaller than the last one I tried it on but being limited to an AC20 I'm not sure whether that would even be worth trying.

Suggestions are welcome as always. This tank has become a real work in progress since I decided to slack on maintenance...:wall:

looks pretty good! (especially with the water spots!) ;)

Looks good Jpap! I see you got rid of the cups, eh?

No, they're still all in there. The two on the front left are just covered in sand more so than the ones on the right. I don't think I ended up adding enough sand at first, especially when I factor in the small amount I lose with each wc. I tried to remove the ones on the right but they're really siliconed in good.

Look nice Pap, Right On !

Thanks for the updates! I'm beginning to see some BBA in one of my tanks, too.
Must be time to upgrade to pressurized CO2 for me! The BBA started showing shortly after switching from Excel to Florinaxis.

Stupid algea...lol
