Jspigs Picture Thread

I got a new king Betta for my five gallon fluval chi because my old crowntail "Majesty" jumped out. Because Majesty jumped out, I am in the process of designing a DIY lid out of an old tank divider. The lid should be ready tomorrow. Until then I have placed hornwort across the surface of the water to discourage jumping while allowing my new king Betta to come to the surface to breathe.

Here are some pics:

He's lovely! They should really manufacture a optional lid for that tank, seeing as though on the fluval website they show these tanks with bettas inside and we all know how much they like to jump! Very curious to see what you come up with for your lid as I am interested in getting one of these in the near future...ya know whenever the wallet agrees with me.

I finished the lid and it works. I used an old tank divider and cut it to fit. THe tank's sides all measure 10 inches with the exception of the height which measures 12 inches.

I left an extra inch or so on all sides (to help prevent the lid from falling in the tank) except the back. For the back I cut off an extra inch to make room for wires and the mount where the filter/light attaches to the tank.

I cut out a five inch by five inch square for the filter/light. The filter/light is smaller than that but the extra space allows the water to flow from the filter correctly (you will see what I mean in the pics).

The tank divider is stained white with dead algae, etc. The algae is from when the tank divider was used as a tank divider.

Now here are the pics:

This thread has helped me a lot. I'm going to get a lid made for the tank and your dimensions are very much appreciated!

Thank you!
