Good morning, I have a recently heavily planted tank. I have 65 watts over 29 gallons (18" deep). I have used flourish twice now, as per directions. I am very interested in using co2 and found the Jungle co2 thing for a reasonable price. My question is... is it worth it?

My understanding is that you just drop the tablets in the little bottle and allow it to bubble up under a small plastic tray. Do this once a week. I really like the price as compared to the pressurize co2 kits (my wife would kill me if I bought one of those as I just bought the new lights and a new canister filter).

Would this product be any different than a 2 liter bottle with yeast and vinegar?

i was going to use a Co2 tablet system myself, but it was recommended to go with the yeast system, and so i did and i think that was a better choice, im getting great Co2 with my yeast system. I picked up a nutrafin system used because it came with a ladder/diffuser/bubble counter thing.. or i wouldve just built it out of a 2 liter and gotten a ceramic diffuser and bubble counter from somewhere. but then after you get the Co2 going you have to monitor your pH and KH and Co2.. just to let you know.. :)

I bought that for my 29g a long time ago. DIY is better.

well I bought it and not sure what I expected. I dropped the tab in there and it foamed like crazy (so much so, in fact, that it ran down the hose into my tank). Then the bubbles calmed down and I am getting several bubbles per minute. When you do this, how do you do water changes? Should I just do very small changes (instructions say that the unit should be kept level with water line). Which would mean very small water changes. I am hoping that this works as it sure was easy. hahaa. Thanks.

Well the kit works well with easy plants like anuibias and java ferns. As far as the deal with water changes go. Just do them normally. The gas trapped under the holder will eventually dissolve after a few hours anyhow. Also just fill the little cup up to the line and you'll get no foam in the water that way. Try it out. If you like it then great! But if you don't, DIY CO2 is a very cost effective solution you can look into. Let us know how you like it.

Thanks Chonhzilla. That answered even more questions than I had asked. My concerns had been... where the hell did all the gas go? it is supposed to be enough for 24-48 but it aint there after 3 hours. Guess that is normal, hahaha.

As for the fuzzing going down the tube. I did fill it just to the 3oz line and it still went into the water. I will try using less water the next time I drop a tab.

AND WORD OF WARNING: For those of you interested in this kit and look at it at a reputable internet seller named after a Dr. and someone else, DO NOT follow their instructions. They mention to use 1 tab for every 10 gallons. So, i dropped three in the chamber and closed the lid. Literally one second later the lid pops off and a somehwat annoying stream of foam shot in my face. Stick with the directions that come with the product one tabs really does mean one tab. hahahaha.
