Thanks for looking.I have a 75g tank, with 2 emporer 400 filters,2 aquaclear 4000 powerheads.I bought playsand and how deep of base should it be and how much livesand should I mix(ratio). This is going to be FO(damsels and clowns) for now but I will like to get liverock when funds permit, but people tell me different answers on lighting.I have a regular striplight(flourescent). Will this suffice or can or do I have to get different bulbs or a whole new lighting setup? Also about skimmers?to skim or not to skim?LFS said no,but some people say yes??Will the emporer filters be sufficient for my needs?I've been doing freshwater for eons and thats what I had for the tank when I bought 5 years ago.If adding liverock later do I need to qaurentine it?I have plenty of questions and had most of them answered by reading this forum.I appreciate your help and knowlegde saltwater gods :bowing:

Skimming helps out regardless, alot of LFS dont know what they are talking about either.

With playsand a good 3-4" deep will work, and you dont really need live sand added.

If your not doing corals or Anemones regular lighting is fine.

If your aquarium is already cycled only add cured live rock (as in all the critters that have died are no present), while if its cycling uncured live rock will work.

If you start with clowns and damsels first, you will have to remove them if you want to put any other fish in there.

Damnsels(not misspelled as far as I am concerned) are territorial. There is a saying that says 'if damnsels were as big as sharks the sharks would run in fear.'
Clowns and damnsels are from the same family but the clowns are much easier to get along with.

When you add new fish the damnsels will pick on them till they die. I had 3 of them before I knew any better. 2 died from a voltage leak (bad powerhead) and with the 3rd I had to take out all the rock just to get him out of the tank. I have read many stories just like mine about those **** damnsels.

Damsels will kill or chase out ANY fish that enters thier territory no matter how big that fish is. So any new fish added will be attacked and killed by the Damsels.

I have to agree-they are the most territorial things. I have a 1 inch zebra damsel that likes to pick on my 4 inch niger trigger! The crazy thing swims around in front of him & flares, goes into the niger's cave (a big seashell). It's funny to watch him-and the niger just puts up with it!!
