okay guys i need your avice on some stuff and i know i've come to the right place right ?
okay here it goes.
my tank has been running for about 3 months . it is a 120 gallon fwlr tank.
i consider it to be cycled. all levels are perfect ammonia 0 ,nitrate 0ppm nitrite 0 salinity is 1.26 and temp is 80.
the tank is curently home to one sole puffer as well as two atlantic spiny starfish[who have insedentaly breed in my tank producing several little i mean like 1 mm replicas of themselves] one chocltate chip star one blue crad about 15 hermit crabs, who is the only survivors of a masive ick infestation brought on by my own hastiness of adding a french angel which wasn't properly quarantined. my puffer is locally caught here in Trinidad by me it has shown no sighns of ick.[Trinidad for those who don't know is the last island of the caridean chain it is also the most sothern]
1; how do you iliminate ick from your tank without harming your coral inverts or alegea?
2: can i put in a volitan lion into my tank ?
3: are all fuzzy dwarf lions secretive ?
Sorry for the lenghty post
thanks for you help.

1: how do you iliminate ick from your tank without harming your coral inverts or alegea?

Soak the food in the juice out of minced garlic you find in the grocery store... Get the minced with WATER, not OIL...

2: can i put in a volitan lion into my tank ?

The rule about lions: If it will fit in its mouth, it is a meal waiting to happen...

3: are all fuzzy dwarf lions secretive ?

Lions find a spot and perch, waiting for food. If that spot is hidden, then yeah. It isn't like the do it on purpose though.

btw, your puffer will soon eat those inverts. Pick which ya like (puffer ot inverts) and find the others a new home.

Hello Red Guy,

I have fond memories of a trip to T&T a few years ago. The Caroni swamp was great.

I have caught French Angels all over the Caribbean, and have never seen a new caught fish with sw ick, crypt, or any other disease. In my experience white-spot diseases are almost always connected to rapid temperature change, especially a sudden chill, or exposure to a diseased fish in the hyper-contagious confines of an aquarium.

Did you catch your French Angel, or buy it from a dealer? You would be better off catching your own, I think. Juvenile French A.s are common in Trinidad, and easy to catch.

I don't know what treatment options are available in Trinidad. There are products like Melafix that claim to be invert safe, but I have no experience with those products. The thing to keep in mind is that the parasites are themselves inverts, so medicating any reef tank is problematic. You might try fresh water dips for affected fish, making sure that the aquarium and fw temps are the same. Slowly raising the aquarium temp to the low 90s, making sure the water is well aerated, sometimes works well. Sulfathiazole sodium is a very reliable cure, but difficult to obtain.

thanks for all the good advice.
I'm glad you had a good time when you where in trinidad last .
The french angel was not caught be me personally it was caught by a fellow hobbist.
my Puffer doesn't seem at all intrested in my inverts. but i'll keep in mind that it may suddenly change it's mind.
i have tried meatafix it seemed to work pretty well i only use it in my hospital tank though and i think i'll stick to that method rather than risk my inverts.
Thanks again for all you help.
