A'ight folks. I put the sand in there. There's probably half a pound to a pound left of the aragonite, but I figured that it could buffer. The sand is touching probably 98% of the tank bottom. The sand is 3-4 inches deep. I could've done the whole thing 4 inches, but the tank is only 30 gallons, and it looked really weird with that much sand, so I took some out. More sand than water. Anyways, I'm letting things settle and will turn on my equipment tomorrow night. I already threw in the shrimp, and I'm not turning the skimmer on now until the Sunday after next. That should get things rollin'. Thanks for all the help.

Updating again (mostly I'm doing this because if I'm doing anything wrong, I'm hoping someone will object). There is alot of detrius that has settled over the sand from the aragonite. It's very fine, probably more so than the sand, but dark grey. I turned the skimmer on and threw some carbon in the filter, the skimmer and the carbon will be turned off/removed Sunday night. Anything that's left I think I'll just leave, as it's so small I doubt anything would have a problem with it.
