Greetings!
Just joined a few days ago and have never posted on any forum before. Am not very computer savy. Would'nt know what to do with an avatar if I had one, unless of course he or she was an Airbender.
Please forgive the spelling as I have yet to figure out the spell check down load here.
I have several small aquariums........and they are all in the attic! I used to have a couple of 45 gals but sold them before one of my moves. My experience has been with salt and fresh water. Used to scuba and catch my own stuff, keep it a while and take it back out and release when they would outgrow my tank. I did this with several Queen, Black, and French Angelfish, tangs, damsels, cardinals, and cubbyu back in the late 80's and early 90's. Have spawned Ocelaris clowns, Banded coral shrimp, pistol shrimp, bettas several times, and a couple of species of gourami. Only raised the freshwater babies to adulthood. As you all probably know, it is fascinating stuff but can be a lot of work, especially when work/job gets in the way. About 5 years ago, my wife and I built our own house. Now that we are pretty much settled and I have the room, I'm ready to try again, even though work/job is still in the way. Probably go with freshwater this time with live plants. I have and love all of Amano's books and the one written by Walstad. I will probably favor her methods as I did that on the last tank I had running. Am really looking forward to getting an education here. I will try to hide my stupidity as well as I can.....but it seems to get harder to do that every year.
Anybody know where I can find the Round Tailed Paridisefish? Used to be called Macropodus chinensis but it's Macropodus somethingelsis (I can't remember) now. Have a couple of TFH articles from way back featuring this fish and am a real fan of this critter. I've only ever seen it in pictures, though. Thought I might try to work with it if I can find it.
Take care everybody and may the prime cause of everything be benificial to you all. And oh yeah, lets have some fun, after all it is the best thing to have.
