Just bought a 125 gallon. I have a question.

I think a black ghost would be good in there, the tank is big enough, not sure about how it will get along with the barbs, never had a knife fish

The knife will need a tube or some other kind of hiding spaces to get away from the barbs--depending on his size, the barbs will possibly chase him, try to nip if they're bigger---now. Mine's been in with all kinds of fish, including Malawi peacocks, and he's always held his own.
About the filter, don't know.

Cool... I'm having a hard time figuring out what i want to stock in there. I have 6 Rosy Barbs, 5 Red Tetras and 5 cory cats in a 29 gallon right now. I guess I'll stick them in the 125 and buy some more barbs of various types. I need to be more creative with my stocking and all. With a big tank like a 125, I think I could do better if I would take my time. The tank is being delivered tomorrow. I'm going to use everything in the 29 to try and speed up the cycle. I have a bio-wheel that's been going for a long time that should do the trick.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking Discus, but they seem like way too much work. Hmmmm.

discus are amazing fish but are a lot more work to keep healthy, personally I would do just a huge community, schooling, center pieces, bottom scavengers, top dwellers etc

i think a BGK would be fine in the tank. just make sure u have a good number of barbs because they'll get nippy if you dont have enough.
