Just bought a 125 gallon. I have a question.

Nothing weird about it. There are lots of species of knives. These ones reach only 12 inches I believe and are smaller than most knives such as the ever popular clown knives.
So my filtration will be a Fluvel FX5 canister filter, a Emperor 400 and a 280. I threw in all of my gravel, filtration, ornaments, etc. I also put in a bag of Bio Spira in there. I have the emperor's going, and just order the fluvel.
What I have now is
5 Tiger Barbs
4 Green Tiger Barbs
6 Rosy Barbs (my personal favorite)
8 Headlight Taillight Tetra
6 Serpae Tetra
5 Corydoras
2 Clown Loach ( I know, I know, they get big) Do these need to be in schools of 6 or more? If so, I don't think I'll keep them. I do think getting one more would be a good idea though.
1 common pleco.
Tomorrow I will probably get the BGK.
Any thoughts? I'm really hoping that the tiger barbs don't pick on all the fish because I'll have to bring them back. What's bad is, this is the one fish that my girlfriend wanted and she'll be upset if I have to. I wouldn't have bought the barbs because I really wanted 2 dwarf flame gouramis. But I knew the tiger barbs would just beat them up. What's funny is, I noticed the 2 clowns schooling around with them earlier.
Do you think any other fish would go well in the tank or do I have plenty? I think having the tiger barbs limits my possibilities.

Keep clown loaches and other loaches for that matter in a minimum of 3 in number. Best to stick with smaller species though.
I have an 8 inch Black Ghost Knifefish - they grow to over 20 inches in the right environment.
Mine has never been aggressive with tank mates, but I put some Silver Dollars in the tank that gave the BGK a hard time. BGK are scaleless so they can be injured fairly easily.

Yeah, from what I've read and from what other people have told me...they are very peaceful. They are definitely one of the coolest freshwater fish, IMO.
Ok, I'm trying to spare the forum from me posting several "question" threads. With my Fluvel filter, what kind of media will I need to buy and put in there? I was just reading another website and read this --

In order to make this test fair we used exactly the same high quality media (with the exception of the pads) in both filters. The easiest way to do this (and the way many FX5 owners are going) is to buy the "pack" of media Eheim offer to be sold with the pro 3. This provides exactly the right amount of media for a 2080 filter (and a lot more then enough for a FX5 ..but more on that in a moment) at a substancial discount to buying it seperately and can be purchased seperately from several retailers. The Eheim media is generaly considered the best available and works very well indeed in most brands of filters.
What products are they talking about exactly? Any help would be appreciated!

BGK are pretty peaceable critters, but I'll tell ya, my head/tail light tetras disappeared one by one when in the same tank . .. . . .a bgk's mouth can open W-I-D-E. Unless it's a little two-inch juvie, which will give the tetras time to grow full size. The brown is an African brown knife, whereas the bgk is Amazonian, but my two just get along fine, coco usually just stays away as bgk is much, much larger. You could get some horseface loaches--I have a herd of five juvies--they get around 6 inches. Lots of personality. Think I"ll put them in my 125 with the severums. . .
