I just recently bought a 46 gal bow front freshwater tank. I currently had 3 chinese plecos, 3 rainbow sharks, 3 iridesent sharks, 4 clown loaches. The wife just had to have "cute" little fish so she has 8 tiger barbs, 6 zebra danios, 8 neon tetras. What would be other good non-aggressive fish since I have little community fish? :mad2

how about some Harlequin Rasbora .. they school ....

how are your Tiger barbs doin.. are the nipping at other fishes fins..
i love tiger brabs but people on this board taked me out them on account of the fin nipping... any insight would be helpful...

:)

these sharks get 2 feet long (iredecent sharks)and they will eat the danios and the tetras, the rainbows will kill each other . Clowns a fairly large fish, get to be about a foot long I think; you did cycle your tank? If your tank is cycled I would just get rid of the ids sharks, and two of the rainbow sharks(carps). Then you should be fine. Barbs won't fin nip in the group you have, and should be fine. maybe a cichlid or two? If you haven't cycled your tank please take the time to read this.

If the irridescent sharks are the same as irridescent cats. They do get huge, swim constantly and freak out easily. Hope you have a heavy hood, because they are easily startled and bounce off the sides & top of the tank when excited. You're going to soon need a much larger tank for them. That said. I had one ( I know they need company, but it was a rescue) in my 50 gallon with raboras and other small community fish. As long as the other fish are fast enough to get out of its way so they don't get mowed over, it wasn't a problem. Mine competed with the pleco for the spirulana pellets, never ate other fish. They're chow hounds.

i have a 72 gallon bowfront. i'm a big fan of clown loaches and have seven in my tank....i think the trick is patience and research. try to find fish with similar dispostition, water and temperature requirements, etc. loaches need lots and lots of hiding caves
ciao,
steve.

Well the iridesent sharks/cats are very acctive they like to try and jump out of the tank but i have a glass top so its heavy enough for them. my tiger barbs have not nipped any fins "yet" but chase after the rainbow sharks and vise versa. I was thinking about getting some bala sharks but the lady at petco said they would eat the danios so i could not get those. I was wondering what kind of semi-aggressive fish i would be able to get that would not hurt the wifes fish.

Anything that will not get big enough to eat them, rams. Can't really have semi agressive fish with those guys. Just wait until the sharks get big enough to eat the danios, tetras and barbs then you'll have plenty of stocking options.
