Just Bought A Crowntail Male Betta. Have Some Questions.

He looks good! Just wait til he gets bigger, the "rays" of his fins will get longer. Keep an eye on those plastic plants... he may snag a fin & hurt himself. As he grows, you may want to consider removing some to give him more room - or upgrade to a 2.5 or 5 gallon tank.

he's a pretty lil ninja dude!

another type of food that you might want to try is frozen. bloodworms, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, etc. my betta pretty much eats whatever the other fish in my other tanks eat, but in much smaller quantities. i've never had a betta turn his nose up at frozen bloodworms!

a note on the special betta water conditioner/dechlorinator: SALES GIMMICK! seriously, the betta dechlor is simply regular dechlor watered down. so you end up using more of it and buying more of it more often. get a bottle of Prime or Aquaplus instead! (if your tap water has chloramine then you want Prime, if it is just chlorine then you can use Aquaplus).

Agreed with all of that ... but some municipalities add chloramine to the water off and on again, depending on the season and other factors, so Prime is your best bet if unsure.

Fishycat's right about the risk of plastic plants. Besides being safer for fins, live plants can really beautify a tank, and help filter the water. There are several types that grow slowly and don't need a lot of light, like java ferns and cryptocorynes ("crypts"). Obviously, plenty of info here on AC, whenever you want to look into it. :)

Ninja Dude is certainly handsome, and he looks very happy. Congrats!

He's beautiful the tank is 1.5g you say? Remember to check for ammonia levels this tank is not cycled right? Remember water changes atleast once a week like 25% of the water do wc's more frequently if you see ammonia or nitrite really important also food variety they also love freezedried blood worms but take a cup with some of his tank water and soak a few in the aquarium water and then pour em in he will absolutely love them. I feed my bettas bloodworms once a week the rest of the week they get bettamin flakes that have the shrimp they also love frozen brine shrimp defrosted ofcourse :). A once a week fast is a good thing to do for your betta to help prevent constipation and lets him clean out his intestinal tract. Good luck with him he is really handsome.
