so i have a hang on the back skimmer, only regulator i see is for air control

the foam goes up the the tube, almost over. this is after 5 hours or so. stays that way. if i adjust it either way no difference or less foam.

what am i doing wrong?

aquarium systems, long tube type (tornado thing)

had it many months, cleaned it about 5 days ago cause my water was all out of wack.

You, my friend, have one of the worst skimmers on the market :wall:. It's a SeaClone. There are two things you can do at this point. One is to take it off the tank to use as a decorative paperweight or odd-shaped football, meanwhile replacing it with a more reliable model. Two is to use the following: Basic Modifications ; Needle-Wheel Modification. If you don't want to spend more money on a new skimmer, try those mods first and see how it works for you afterward.

I had a seaclone on my 55gal. It pulled out plenty of green gunk....After cleanin it it needs a break-in period. You should have a tornado effect goin on and the foam should get to the top part where the cup is and the bubbles should burst at the rim. Did it produce gunk before? Using certain additives in the water make it act differently so try not to use them. I replaced the valve thing with one that come with an airline kit. You know like the one you can buy for an air pump and bubbler.

okay, going to pet store tomorrow.

ill get a new airline thing for sure, and ill cut the center tube down a bit as well. as for making a better seal, i did not follow the guide at all. is this something i can get a petstore (the foam/o-ring)???

i also have a bunch of bio balls from a nano cube, can these help at all? i could easily get some free bioballs of vaious types from friends, will this help at all?

in the mad job search, so this might have to wait a bit... :/

well i want to thank you guys for doing so. because i havent wasted much money i would say, yet that is .... i have expensive taste in coral and fish
