just got a 40 gallon tank

ya thats true, I guess I hear snail and just think of the experience I had with them, got 3 mystery Snails, and ended up with hundreds

The main fish im looking on to are the Dwarf gourami dose any recamidasions on them or tank mates for them
What I have heard about dwarf gourami is that they often have health problems, I want to say from inbreeding but maybe something else. My dwarf gourami died (rest in peace) but I know that was before I was very well educated on fish keeping.

Congrats on the 40 gallon.

I read on this site: Aquarists don't keep fish, they keep water, and the fish tell them how good it is. That is sooo true -

I'm six months new to aquarium keeping and getting the tank cycled is THE first step. I'm sad to say I lost several fish because the water wasnt fully cycled before I added my fish. Lesson learned, guilt lessening.

There are a lot of good articles on here on how to do it. And good advice from others too. My thought is take the time to get it right the first time to save some heartache and fish lives...

Getting some healthy media from another tank can speed up the process greatly. I started a second tank with the good media from my current tank (which took 3 months to get established because I rushed it) and it was good to stock in 3 days.

When it is all done cycling- Cory cat fish and Julli's are a lot of fun and I think they add good energy to the tank. And they help with cleaning the substrate.

Patience will pay off. Good luck -
