Just got a free 55 gallon tank and stand, Now what?

Just finished resealing, It's not pretty, but hopefully it'll work. I'll try the leak test again tommorrow and see how good of a job I did. Although I did see bubbles in the silicone, but I squeezed them out.

I got 2 more questions:
1.Would a Penguin 150 and an Emperor 400 be enough filtration for my tank?
2. I changed my stocking choice and I wanted to check if i was fine.
15 Neons, 10 Kuhli Loaches, 6 Rummy Nose Tetras, 6 Peppered Cories, 2 Bamboo Shrimp, 2 Bristlenose Plecos, 10 Platies, 6 Otos, 2 Bolivian Rams, and 1 Blue Gourami.

I'd consider that inappropriate and severely overstocked in all honesty.

The Cories / Kuhlis, Platies, and Otos should be thought about more. 10 Platies will be 500 within months.... It's best to have one "bottom feeder", and Otos should only be introduced long after the tank has been established. 3-4 would be the max for a 55 IMO.

I already know about the rule to wait for at least a few months vefore introducing otos, thanks anyways. :) Do you mean 3-4 Otos or Platies?

3-4 Otos. If you add Platies, I'd suggest about the same (3-4) and the same sex unless you are prepared to rehome the surviving fry.

Allright, so 4 Otos for the 55. :) My LFS takes in any fish even as babies and I think that the fry would go to the feeder fish tank.

If you get platies then make sure you get some good breeding stock. Red wags or something, so that they are too good to be feeder fish. One male to several female or he will harass them to death.

Lose the two bristlenose. They get really big and can be aggressive and contribute a huge bioload.

3 or 4 Otos should be plenty, and 5 khuli loaches and 5 cories.

Then your stocking would be much better. Neons are fine, BTW. Their bioload is almost nothing.
