hello all

I recently cycled a 55 gallon and was considering a community tank with some small cichlids (cockatoo apistos, keyhole) and had been reading up on eartheaters as well

anyway, hubby and i couldnt decide what to choose, he wanted smaller fish, i wanted medium/large. so at the LPS today and they had one jurupari, both of us started drooling and so now he is home with us happy as can be digging in the gravel.

I am just completely lost on where to go from here, do i need at least one/two more guys for him to be happy and what would be ideal tankmates for him

i know it can go either way (larger tetras/hatchets or semi/peaceful cichlids)

so bottom line

what would you guys do

i also have 2 bristlenose plecos in a smaller tank that will be going in there!

and i really wouldnt want to risk that

so ive read in places that some schools of fish (ie hatcets. larger tetras) are ok with them, but i can see that possible being the same issue as the apistos, the hatchets might be alright since they hang at the top

i really wish there was more info on them!!!!

Had a little colony ( 5) of Geophagus Jurupari & to be honest, whomever said that they are one of the most peaceful aquarium fish that there is CORRECT!! Unless you are a fish that lives in the gravel substarte of the tank, that they sift through, the Juruparis that I've had and seen would hardly be assertive enough to bother that many fish.

In fact, they were so unassertaive that even holding a breeding spot in the aquarium was a chore, but I had a pair that was able to acheive it, along with a pair of Steindachneri that are totally different & breed too.
