Just over three hours to vac my gravel!

Hey Ash....nice to see someone else getting inside their tank for cleaning. We were in ours the other night for maintenance....and when I say "we", I don't mean "me"....lol My husband spends about 3-4 hours inside doing maintenance, fixing plants, and cleaning. Our Africans swim around him just like he's another fish in there. :p:
 
Most of my tanks are planted to heavily planted. Gravel vac there is only when doing division and replanting. Others are planted RFUG, so comparable to the regular planted tanks. Unplanted RFUG is trivial, you never get anything. Those neither planted nor RFUG have about 1/2" of substrate and take very short times to vacuum. The total tank footprints run about 75 square feet, so it has to be fairly efficient/low labor or it would be neglected.
 
i envy anyone who can get in their tank, hell i thought my 55gal was big... now it feels so small..........

My husband wears runners, swim trunks, and a mask/snorkel....
 
I think I would be too tempted to get in with them even if I wasn't cleaning!!! I'm sure that feeling wouldn't last long though.

Ash and DM~ are you finally satisfied with the large tanks you have or did you start to look at them after a while and think its really not THAT big...
I just got a 180g tank and it looked enormous for a couple of weeks, now I'm not very impressed anymore...Does it ever end :huh:
 
Holly....it NEVER ends...
Our tank doesn't seem very big to us anymore....it's nice when someone new comes over and we see it from a different perspective again.
My husband is already talking about building a bigger tank....8000 gallons has been mentioned....:rolleyes:
 
LOL, Holly....apparently not big enough....to do this new tank, we would have to excavate and add on....I'm hoping it won't be for a while.... :o
