Just over three hours to vac my gravel!

Well I don't "vaccum" so to speak. All my tanks that aren't bare bottom have sand, so I never really need to do anything else with those but remove water. All my bare bottom tanks ya just take a min or 2 and suck all the stuff up off the bottom. I can do all my tanks in 2hrs or so. 4 (10) gals, 20gal, 29gal, 30 gal, 38 gal, 40 gal, 55gal, 75 gal, and the little 4.5gal.
 
Ahh... Nat you have the easiest tank to look after, after all they are discus. LOL ;) . Just kidding The reason I like bare bottom tanks is the reason you just stated.
 
I don't know how you guys do it. It took me 2 hrs tonight to clean my 55 gal and 10 gal. I took my driftwood out and reattached some java fern, and trimmed my overgrown corkscrew val, and had to deconstruct my loach cave, clean under it and rebuild it. I also moved some fish I bought a couple weeks out of quarentine into my 55 gal. :sad: It did take a while to chase down 5 otos. I still have some plants that come loose when I vaccum, so I have to replant those too. But still...2 hrs

Don't worry Nursie, I have overflowed my 50g in the basement when doing water changes sooo many times( It's b/c it is my last tank that I change water on), and it is usually due to the fact somehow while doing a water change a beer miraculously appears in my hand and I seem to forget all about the hose still pumping water into the tank, and from there it then takes me about 2 hours to clean everything up. #just a side note, time taken to clean up usually depends on how many beers have been consumed. LOL :duh:

i have a ten gallon and it takes me like 3 min.

Swimfins, with an avatar like that I think anything is possible! :D And yes saltwater does take up time but like this thread it can be very fun. ;)
 
My 150 takes about 40 minutes for a 25% change. It's a 150 tall, so I like some others swim with the fish while doing it. I miss having my oscars who used to pick at me while in there, but that's in the past. The worst part is fixing the decorations now that it is a huge community. I want my oscars back!!! At least the water cahnges are down to once every three weeks vs. every 2-3 days. LOL!!
 
It takes me 1/2 to one hour to vacuum my 29 gallon. I'm sort of a perfectionist about it and never miss my weekly vacuuming.
Your tanks are AWSOME and I'm jealous! I'm fairly new to the fish world, but I'm already addicted! I have had my 29 gallon since March and I'm now fully stocked. So, now I'm ready for a bigger one right?!? hahaha I see what you mean by it "never ends."
My husband and kids tease me when I talk to my fish. They really have their own personalities and know me (the fish, not my family haha).
Thanks for sharing your pics - they are truly beautiful aquariums!
