any one have any real life experiences with these guys?
some say they are jumpers,.. are they really?
i can't cover my tank for the many things hanging on the tank and i believe i read that egg crate will diffuse the light in the tanks,.. so any other suggestions?

also been trying to find a name for him/her?
trying out
lenny blenny
benny blenny
denny blenny
or my favorite jack blenny :evil_lol:

Mine seems to prefer the right side overflow, I have probably dug him out of there 5 times this year. I dont know if he is jumping, or just gets swept into it because he is trying to get to the algae around the top. He has yet to jump out of the tank.

Here is mine, got him in August 2001 so that makes him about 8 years old now. He does eat the algae that grows at the surface of the water on the glass and makes loud kissing noises when he does, but he has never once tried to jump out or into my overflow.

They can jump, I have had 2 that have leaped out. Most of the time they only do this when startled. It is best to have a lid or egg crate of you want a open top tank. Egg crate is the less light diffuser of anything you can use. I use it and cant tell a difference. Make sure you feed him other nutritional foods or they can starve.

well my blenny came out this morning, and snapped a couple pics, after he chased my black clowns away from their spot in the tank,..lol

In fairness, I know two reefers locally that both bought a new LMB and had it jump out in the first week within the past year, so they do jump, just haven't experienced it myself.
