Here's pickles, he jumped and dried out. I had a fairly good lid on the tank. He was fine in the 55 gal tank with not much lid, but I had to move the tank, and temporarily put them in a 20, and next morning I found him on the floor.

I would say it is the startled thing that probably did it. When I tried to catch him, the tank was about 1/4 full and he almost jumped out to get away from the net. I have replace him now, as they are just downright silly to watch most of the time.

Not really, Anything you place on the tank for a lid, will indeed cut down light, even glass as it will reflect off of it.

Screen will actually cut down more light than glass. Plus the saltcreep fthat will form on it wont help either and will break down the screen material.

Depends on the screen material. If you use egg crate / light difuser material for a top it actually only cuts light about 5% where as glass tops cut about 10% of the light when the glass is clean. But for the purpose at hand I will agree that glass is a better option to keep jumpers in than screen material.

i was going to get this one instead but i don't like to order them so i got the one a lfs had in stock,, can any other blennie co exist with a different species? probably not huh? i know their own kind no but was hoping to get a stary one day,.. perhaps when i up grade to a larger tank,.

A friend of mine has a 280G and has both a lawnmower and starry and even in that large of a tank, and both being very small/new fish, the starry still chases the lawnmower around the tank every once and a while. I have my lawnmower in my 75G and my Starry in my 29G because I knew they couldn't co-exist, not 2 algae blennies even though they look different. I did add a midas blenny in my 75G because it is a different type and they pay no attention to each other.
