just so confused on fish choice

ive seen people with single Lyretail Anthias in a 75, does this count no good too?

Yes, it was a Lyretail that my neighbor bought. Not saying that one experience is the norm.. but after it died and I started reading and asking around the general concensus was a 75G was too small. Plus Anthias are much happier in their harems.. ie, 1 male and 3 females.

I was reading the post and two small angels in one tank can be done?

I have my 135 cycled now and wanted to add two angels, one flame and one coral beauty. Going to do it in about 6 months. Everything I read says no.

in your tank you could def keep these 2 angels IMO. just be sure to introduce them at the same time :)

Have you already ruled out fairy or flasher wrasses?

well i did just get the 1 fairy wrasse :) i may add a flasher down the road.

I You said your royal gramma was beating up on your firefish? I'll have to keep an eye out because I have a RG in QT right now.

i love my RG but it seems to be a much bigger bully than most. the constant harrassing caused the firefish to go carpet surfing :( but the gramma was in the tank first so hopefully you'll be ok. the big bully took a big chunk out of my new fairy wrasses tail as well. but what can i say i still love that fish :)

so now i think i've decided against the purple tang. it seems that the whitecheek tang and powder brown tang are 2 tangs that pretty much everything i've looked at says are suitable for my 75g tank. SO, now im looking in that direction. i do love the anthias but am not sure i want to even attempt one... so im pretty much now between 1 tang or 2 dwarf angels. ah the decisions...

I have tried 4 Anthias, and none survived, 3 different kinds (lyretail, cooper's, and squareside). While beautiful, I agree that 75g is way too small. 2 did well for a couple of months then mysteriously died for no reason I could find. the other 2 never acclimated to my tank and began eating. If I ever get my dream huge tank, then I may try a harem, but until then, I'm tapping out on trying an Anthias.
