Just wanted to share

A couple days ago I bought a large rubber anemone to add to my tank. I wanted a real one but I know how hard they are to care for and I don't want to kill it. This rubber one is pretty neat, it has a weighted base and a flimsy head on top the stump part with long tenticles. It's made to sway with the current to look a bit more real. It's nice and it gives my tank a bit of color. I noticed some other really neat new marine items in our store and even though they are fake I may buy somemore just to give my tank some color.

Anyway, at first the fish seemed afraid of the new addition but within a couple hours my 2 black and white striped damsels started to investigate and have been swimming in and out of the tenticles ever since. The other fish, 2 false percs and 1 coral beauty, now seem indifferent to it's presence. The CB will swim around it and what not but the 2 percs are just content to hang out on the opposite side of the tank and have nothing to do with it. They seem to try to get closer everyday though, about an inch or 2 at a time. Right now, as I type, 1 or them has ventured to within 8 inches of the fake anemone and is just staring straight at it ... oooppps, there it goes, back to the other end of the tank!

Well, just wanted to share! Silly fish!

hmmm

I can't remember the name exactly ... "something - REEF"

I got the thing from PetSmart. They had this one, which is white with purple tip tenticles, another which was non-moving and was a rose color, and a small one that was non-moving with green tip tenticles. There was also several different colored and styled tree-looking stone corals. I might get 1 or 2 of those, we'll see. The larger anemones were $20-$25 and the stoney corals were like $20-$30. The small anemone was only $7 but was kinda small.

Hope that helps a bit.

The clownfish at our local LFS were hosting in a rubber anemone, too! It didn't look remotely real, though. I thought it was so cute. They were baby clownfish.

Our LFS has some realistic-looking anemones and corals that are sold for 50 bucks a pop. That's a bit out of my price range for fake decor!

And there was a regal tang that had stuck itself between the bottom of the fake anemone and the sand. I only realized it was there because I recognized the tail. (I was with Becky at the LFS.)
