Just Wondering...

Depends--are we talking about only aquarium fish? General aggression, or specific? There are a number of South American cichlids that are vicious, particularly to others of the same species. There are a number of non-aquarium fish that are very mean as well--blue gill come readily to mind!

Pseudopimelodus fowleri <-- rare fish, mean mother******. Kills fish for fun. Known as the devil of fish

the worst one ive ever personally experienced was the skunk botia and the speckle-tail botial, haha.

anyways, i think the bowfin in the local creek are pretty mean.

i really have no idea what the 'most aggresive freshwater fish' is. just giving my 2cents.

and as far as oscars.... PFFFT... i had one get whooped on a few times by a little blue cichlid to the point of shame, heh.

No WAY! Bullsharks. Im telling, you, I'd like to see a cichlid pick a fight with HIM.

Black Piranha...Hands down....They attack filters and air tubes, they charge at people walking by the tank, they attack heaters when the light goes on, plants and are single specimans only. Black Piranhas are not shy and kill for aggression. They get 14 inches approx. How can you beat this?

I second the black Pirahna. I had one quite a few years back and he would go after anything. I would not take the hood off of that tank becasue he would jump out of the water at me. If I waited until after he was fed, I could do "some" tank maintinance.

I once had a red snakehead that ate a few of it's tankmates 8" shovelnose, channel cat etc. The vicious part however was that it bit them in half and left the head and organ cavity, which was enough to sustain life... until euthanized. At feeding time it once ate 20 goldfish in less than 15 minutes.
