my 2 male blue and opaline gouramis just wont ever stop fighting each other, to the point of extreme. finally i decided to take care of it. i put the 2 fish into a 10 gallon and am letting them duke it out. so far its even but im hoping one will become a clear winner and settle this dispute, any ideas on how else to stop them from fighting?

I actually think that your resolution is rather cruel. It's pretty common knowledge that gouramis are hit or miss on compatability, so you were taking a chance with putting 2 together in the first place. If they were my fish, I would separate them. If I couldn't provide a suitable home, then one of them would go to a friend who could, or an lfs. Please don't let them kill each other.

Do you just have a 10g or do you have another tank? If so what size?

but its a community tank, hence community. so put one back into the community tank and let the other stubborn fish gets its own 10 gallons to its self?..i feel hes kind of undeserving of his own paradise to himself, plus its a community tank because i want to see a community of fish not a part community and a separate 10 gallon, takes the focus off of the bigger tank

Well you asked for opinions and it seems the best option was given... I dont see what putting both in a 10g and letting them battle it out is going to solve other than you wanting to just see which one kills the other first :(

You asked how to keep them from fighting yet you are encouraging them to fight now
