I've been reading up on them but can't really figure out what the benifits are of a Calcium Reactor VS water changes and powdered suppliments. I guess my question is..........

If I can keep my Calc level at 425+ with water changes and just a little suppliment, why would I want to spend $475 on a Calc Reactor, Co2 and all the STUFF that goes with it?????

If there is a thread that explains this go ahead, call me a dummy and point me to it :)

Dave,

Thanks for the reply. Would I or COULD I ever reach that level of demand in with a 36 gal. tank?? Right now I only have about 5 different corals and could only fit a few more at the most, allowing for growth. I'm still at the beginning of my coral learning curve!!

You would have to have a lot of growth in a 36 to justify a Ca reactor. When you are using kalkwasser as your only makeup water, and you are still spending a lot on two-part additives, then think about a reactor.

I understand. I can buy a lot of suppliments and and salt for the cost of a calc reactor. I'm going to focus on my sump/refuge for now!! Thanks again.
