Does keeping 5 juvenile angelfishes make me have a chance to get a breeding pair when they have grown big???
-Angelfishes rocks!!!

abt 3 feet long and 1 and a half feet for width and height.can i keep discus with them???

I wouldn't keep angels with discus, it is too likely that you will have problems. Either one is nice enough on its own. You will most likely have at least one male and female in the group of 5, but as said more will be more likely to produce a pair. That's 4'x2'x2', that's a 120 gallons. That is a great tank for either. What filtration do you have? What pH? What water change schedule? What are you feeding?

you can keep angels with discus.

I have wild scalare with domestic discus..i have also had domestic scalare with domestic discus.

I also have a friend that is a discus breeder who keeps wild heckels with wild Altums with no issues.

discus will compete with angels for food..as a matter of fact I discovered discus will out compete the angels.
you may have to get the discus accustomed to the angels. in my case a raised the discus with the angels.
I later introduced more discus..they are learning how to compete(the littlest one actually already figured it out and swims with the angels.

if you find the discus are not getting enough..you compensate by dropping food in a different locations.
the big issue with keeping angels and discus is the possibility of disease transmission..I pre-treat all my fish while in quarantine..reducing the chance of this.

There are lots of people who keep them together, but that doesn't mean it is the best way. It works for some people, and ends up as a very expensive mistake for many others. It is more likely to work out for you and your fish if you go with one or the other, it is just too likely to cause problems. You have enough to worry about with these fish without increasing the risks of starvation and disease.

Compatibility is a tricky subject. What works for some can go against every 'rule' of fishkeeping. I have kept a lot of things together at one point or another and luckily (for them) it worked out. That does not mean I go and tell everyone to keep oscars with barbs and tetras or bichirs with discus. This is one that is closer to that invisible line of yes or no than most other cases of compatibility, but from my experience it is on the no side of the line. You will enjoy the fish more if you pick one or the other. You can sit down and see angels doing great, not angels doing great, a couple discus look like they are eating, and 'oh no, what's wrong with my....'
