Hi All,

I am moving interstate soon and I have to pack up a tank a month before the move.

I am selling the tank to upgrade but will keep the furnishings.

I am a little worried about the gravel, I want to dry that properly. Any suggestions...

Although, I am most worried about the Fluval 404. I don't want the seals to crack and when I re-establish the tank leak everywhere.

Can I use oil on the seals to keep them fresh.

Any suggestions please post here.

I am moving all my africans via a professional company so no posts on that just on equipment maintenance please.

Well when I switched gravel I took all the old gravel out and put it in a 5 gallon bucket. You may need 2. I used a strainer by the way to do this. After that I took the buckets down to our sink with the strainer and would scoop gravel out of the bucket, rinse it with water until the water ran clear. Then I would poor it out onto towels I had laid across the counter. I did this to all the gravel. Then let it lay out all night. Also smooth it out so it's only 1 row high. In the morning my dad and I picked the towels up and dumped the gravel into a rubbermaid tub. That's how I clean it anyways. I only have a HOB filter so I can't help you there.
