I want to get some cockatoo appistograms and some checkerboard cichlids for my 55gal community tank. I was wondering how hardy they are and just what they are like in general I guess. Thanks for any feedback

Good choice. As everyone hear knows i'm an huge apistohead. Very cool fish. I spend more time watching them than any other tank. Here are the best links I found when I first got some:

This is another forum devoted specifically to apistos. dosn't get as much traffic, and the people aren't as gregarious (by that I mean friendly and fun) as they are at AC, but the info is the most solid you will find.
