So I have some guppy grass for my guppies, and I like the way it looks, but bits of it keep falling off and getting rolled around by the filter flow and end up just circulating through the whole tank. Does anyone know a good way to keep this stuff together? I'd like a nice coherent clump instead of just random green twigs flying around. If anyone has experience solving this issue, please share. Thanks.

i usually just pick a part of it and push it into the substrate. if you do that with your little sprouts eventually they'll all be rooted and should stay that way.
To have it floating, I tie a big wad of it together in the middle, and tape the ends of the string to the outside corner of the tank where I want it to stay put. Najas is great for fry, it will make a huge ball of green hiding places in the corner of your tank. And it will take over quickly if you let it.
parts will always come off and spread its the nature of the plant. over time it will even root its self.

No, never killed it - I don't think it's possible to kill najas! What also works really really well is cheapo clear elastic beading cord - it's stretchy, knots easy, and almost invisible underwater. And because it's flexible I guess you'd have less chance of breaking your najas stems. Works great also for tying those javas to rocks and such.

So glad I found this thread! I was having such a hard time with my guppy grass - couldn't figure out how to get it to stay put in my tank. I will try sticking some in the sand (I thought it would kill it, which is why I left it loose previously). Hopefully this will solve the issues.
