keeping plecos with cichlids.

Hi,

anybody here keeping plecos with cichlids? i have a few pcs albino gibbiceps with my severums, i noticed that theyhad lots of torn fins? i have lots odf driftwood in the tank. any tips to minimize damage to them? like adding pots or something?

Hi,
I have a large tank and have no problems w/cichlids and plecos.
They have been together along time but they are all a pretty good size.
Make sure thay have something to hide behind , they like to do that when the lights are on in the beginning. Plus they feel safer and it helps w/fish bothering them. Try a huge plant, one w/suction cups like they use in terrerariums. You can put it in the corner and they have 3 suction cups, the larger ones and you can put them from one side to the back corner & they cover tubes and they look great.
Just a suggestion, they work for me on both sides of my tank.

ive kept plecos with oscars, the ultimate fish pesterers and never had a problem as long as the pleco was of comparable size to the oscar.

I am keeping 2 Pitbull Plecos with Severum, Firemouth, and Blue Acara right now, but all are young at this point. Only time will tell i Guess, but so far so good.

yuo shouldnt have a problem keeping plecos with most South American or Central American cichlids. africans are a different story.

im not a big fan of plecos, but i have a rubber lip pleco with an angel. he's pretty cool looking... for a pleco
