Pretty hard to keep the temperature stable that way.

I place plastic bottles of water in the sump and refugiums of my tanks..the cooler water(usually only a dgree or two cooler will help to keep the heat down.
you would have to add a lot of ice to a tank to cause too much cooling.
keeping the room temp stable can help but in many areas..ac is only used a few days out of the year.
we have had an unusually weird weather year here n the PNW..last week the temps were n the upper 90's even 100's(west side where we get more of a marine push and comfortable temps) this week in the low 70's
used bottles of ice to heel my fish comfortable..(qt bottles)

keep the lgihts off on the tank and the blinds shut all through the house. if you have the windows open to let some air in, dont open the blinds all of the way; only open them enough so that they are just above the bottom of the window. if you have wooden blinds, switch them around so that you can look down over the slats and see the outside when the sun is facing them. this helps keep thye sun out alot.
keep appliances like ovens, toasters, etc. off, and the computer. with the door closed, a computer can heat up a room considerably.

Actually a trick that helped me in the past (and yes, contrary to popular belief it does get hot up here in the frigid north... lol) was to take a frozen bottle of water (2L) and place it in front of the fan so that it is blowing cold air over the top of your tank rather than just move the already hot air around. This will also help cool down your room a bit as well. This will also help alleviate the temperature fluctuations in your tank if you just put a baggie of ice in there or something.
With those temperatures and above all humidity I would be moving within a week... yuck!
The fan method has worked very well for me. It's amazing how fast it can bring down the temp. Keep in mind that your heater should still be set to your desired temp...so if the fan takes the temp lower, the heater will take over. I would set the fan on a timer for about 2pm to 8pm..when it was the hottest here...your situation may be different.
Frozen bottles, ice, etc., just didn't work for me...plus it's a pain to keep freezing water and rotating into the tank.
