I'm having difficulty picking out a water system. The Kent Marine RO system says it removes 90-94% of tap water contaminants. It has a TFC membrane, a one micron pre=filter. For $30 more you can get a high silicate removal membane, Then add another $20 and you get a RODI system. We have gone from $139 to $159 to $179. We hope to eventually have a mini-reef system with easy to moderate corals. We will never have corals that require metal halide light. We don't want to skrimp on necessities, however we want to conserve expenses where possible. Suggestions welcome.

They have an AquaFX 4 stage RO/DI 100gpd for 179.99... I own 2 of them, I like them so much. I can make a gallon every 15 minutes or so, it removes something like 97-99% of all contaminents, and the manuf. has great support. The 2nd one I got had a small drip coming from the RO membrane housing and they sent me a whole new housing overnight for nothing.
I would highly recommend them.

I have the Kent Marine HI-S RO/DI system and it is great! If you spend the extra cash for for the HI-S and DI unit, you won't be sorry. I usually try to save money wherever I can but when it comes to protein skimmers and RO/DI units, I say fork over the cash and get the best!
Keep in mind that the RO/DI is not only for your tank - bypass the DI cartridge and use the water for drinking, cooking, etc. It's the cleanest water you'll ever taste

My LFS runs the Kent RO filter, and they swear by it. Theirs produces around 75 gallons a day, which they sell for $.49 a gallon. The only problem is that they run it all day every day, and it has suffered from all that use. Their system is two years old, and requires frequent maintanance. That is with EVERYDAY use mind you, though. One person has no need for 75 gallons a day of RO water, unless you are showering with it. 
I'd go with what GCVT said, and bypass the DI cartridge. RO water is great for coffee, tea, scotch and water, ice water, or whatever else you need. However, you cannot drink DI water. Something about the deionization messing with your electrolyte levels.
