hi

I know when they turn yellow that means they are males right...what I want to know is do they have to be completely turn yellow before they mate?

Its a part of their sexual maturing all Kenyi are born blue and the males turn yellow, When the males start the transformation to their adult colors its said they become mature enough to start to breed but basically its up to the female to determine that, some Mbuna can breed as little as 2" but your fish will call the shots.. Have fun..

They have to turn yellow before they kill everything else in the tank :dance2:

Seriously, they are a great looking fish but meaner than snot.

Here's one I kept in my turtle tank

Good luck,

The male that is fully yellow is showing dominant coloration. Sub-dominant adult males will have brownish stripes. Generally one male per tank will be dominant.
