keyhole behaviour

Hi all, I've had a pair of keyholes in my community tank for a couple of weeks and one of them has started pushing the gravel around, like it's making a pit. They're only about 2" and don't spend a lot of time together although they get on with everyone fine, including my silver dollars who are 3 times their size. So wotdoyareckon? Is it breeding behaviour? Any chance of babies in a community tank? I have no idea what sex they are.

Cichlids like to move stuff around, and to dig. Pretty normal behavior. What size tank? What else do you have in it.

My tank is 40 U.K gals, about 48 U.S, I have 3 s.dollars, 2 keyhole cichlids, 5 congo tetras, 5 corys, 2 otto's and a small rubberlip plec. Oh and some neons somewhere in the plants.

Do you know for sure if you have a male and female? Mine are rarely far apart - feeding is about the only time they are oblivious to one another. DHR is right, they sift through the substrate alot. I've not seen spawning behaviour with mine though.. they are rather young, 2 1/2" size and I've had them for a year. Keyholes are quite "social", enjoy company for the most part.
