Went home last night and saw one of my seven fish was missing...it was the smallest Zebra Dion...thought the other fish ate him or something....then my wife found him....wedged into the intake of the filter pump (came with 10 gallon tank so assume it is sized correctly). Did the pump suck him in or is it more likely he died and then got sucked in...wedged pretty good. He was never the most 'active' of the fish....

not sure. I had a hob filter and my big pleco kept knocking the strainer cap off. I bought a pictus cat for my 55g (didn't know he'd get too big) let him loose in the tank and then had to rush my kid to the hospital. when we came back my husband was like where's the pictus cat? we later found him in the intake tube. must've been a horrible death. another time the strainer got knocked off and my angel got stuck on the tube. Luckily i was home so he got rescued and is doing fine. this is a little different from your scenario obviously but that's how mine went.
He probably died and then got sucked to the tube. Unless a fish is very weak, they should easily be able to fight off the current from a filter. It would be wise to test your amonia and nitrite and make sure your water conditions are alright 
If you had an inactive Zebra Danio he was probably sick, they are ussually quite active. It's much more likely that he died and got sucked in after, than the pump killed him.
