killer snails!

i work in a lfs so i get to hear all sorts of madness! the stories i could tell... phew

one particulary funny one was this woman who was keeping goldfish. somehow we ended up talking about gold mystery snails... and she says
"oh those things... they kill my goldfish"

i think my eye was twiching pretty hard at this point, so i explain to her that a snail would probably just be feeding on the body of an already dead fish.
"oh no, i had three and they chased my fish into a corner and ate him. he was still twitching"

i dunno what a brain haemorrhage feels like, but i think this was fairly close... no matter how many times i tried to explain that the snails were feeding on a dead or dying fish, she wouldnt believe me. so apparently her mystery snails can chase down a healthy comet and EAT IT ALIVE. pity she didnt put her head in the tank imo...

Maybe it wasn't a Mystery Snail. It could have been a Racing Snail - I heard those things can move pretty freaking fast.

I breed mean snails----I crossed an Oscar with a snail and now it eats everything in the tank including other fish.

I had some racing snails one time that actually escaped out of my 12g and went into my 90g and killed my rainbow shark. Then they had babies and the babies killed everything else.

Now I just raise racing snails. I feed them that rock salt that you use to melt the ice on your driveway.
