I have had a killifish in my tank for a few years with other community fish and have noticed a few fish going missing including all my platies....it seems to me that this is the only fish in the tank with a mouth big enough to eat these!! Do you think its my killifish getting grumpy in it's old age?? Shall i put him in a tank on its own or would it be better with some other fish as company?? I currently have a 5 gallon tank that is running but empty except for a large group of snails (my 2 year old daughter likes them!!)

I've got a blue steel killifish in my community tank and he has been fine for years, but recently he has been killing some of the "friendly" fish in my tank like my platies and neons.... I bought him a few years ago when i was inexperianced. I find he leaves my Cichlids (Cockertoo, Ram, Apistogamma) alone. He cost me £6.00 for a pair which is about $12 at the mo' but was more like $15 back then!!
I see you explained this one in another thread (link below). Neons will obviously be eaten due to their size. What else were eaten aside from platies and neons?

I saw one of these at Petco yesterday. He was like three inches long. I thought they got huge.

I guess he is a panchax..any idea what i can keep him with?
"Fundulopanchax gardneri gardneri"
Common names are woes to me.:perv: Glad you said the scientific name.

A really big silver molly was eaten and a Opaline Gourami, also one of my bristlenose catfishes have gone missing but it was a tiny baby. Also emporer tetras....the list goes on... i have had fish disapearing for years but blamed my giant plec but i've got rid of him and it was still happening!!! Any ideas what i could keep with the killifish? I'm even thinking about breeding him.
