could i keep killifish with a betta and 5 cories in a 15 gallon tank? how many could i keep?

The Cories I believe you can do, but you'd want to stick to the ones that stay smaller, like Panda Cories. I would say a group of six would work for schooling.

The Killifish might not be a good idea. Which kind were you thinking? A lot of them have bright colors and longer fins. Even with more plain colors and shorter fins, there is still a risk of nipping.

Killi's are also a fish that may pick and nip at the Beta. my brothers killifish nipped his threadfin rainbow to death.

You could try rocket panchax, AKA clown killifish. They stay very small, and their colors are black and yellow, besides their fins which can be red and blue. The fins aren't that long either. I agree, if you can, get 6 panda or dwarf cories (any of the group of Hastatus, Habrosus, or Pygmaeus). Hope this helps,
