Anyone ever have one of these, or know someone who has? It say's they get up to 3'. I think they look pretty dag on neat, and how cool would it be to say you have an octopus in you aquarium?

From liveaquaria.com:
The Octopus can be surprisingly strong, so in the home aquarium, it is best to anchor the rocks, or even glue them together to keep the Octopus from toppling the rocks into the glass or onto itself. Cover all tank openings very well or it will try to escape. The Octopus is sensitive to high levels of nitrates and copper-based medications. It can be very difficult to acclimate into a new environment.

Always approach the Octopus slowly to avoid causing it to release its ink cloud in defense. In the aquarium, this release of ink will necessitate a large water change to avoid its death.

Wow! I'd love to see one of these work it's way around a tank, and eat a fish, or something lol!

I saw a giant octopus at the zoo near me this year and even though it wasn't quite 'giant' yet, there was so much security around the tank and the room was so dark that I couldnt really even see it completely, but just see it moving around in the tank. I also like to look around at the online stores and when I read about that octopus from Dr. Foster's and Smith's site, I realized that the zoo was probrably trying to make sure it didnt ink in the tank. I think that would be the hardest thing to do with one as far as having to always keep water ready for a water change. Who's to say that it wouldnt end up inking in the tank while you were almost done with cleaning the tank!?!?!?! That would be my worry. Oh, that and I have kids so no chance of keeping one for me since my kids can almost get me to ink sometimes!

I find the entire species of Octopus's so fascinating. It seems to me that really scientists don't know as much about them as they do other creatures in the sea. Oh, and yeah that would be a real pain in the arse to finish cleaning the tank then have it ink, lol! I duno though just by looking at it it's so fascinating!

i hear that they are true escape artists and also should be kept alone, because they eat everything.

PITA to keep PITA to keep IN the tank, dont do it...

Oh mate hehe, I am so not getting one, but I was just fascinated! I wouldn't mind having one though but not until I get more experience. I'd love to see it swim around, and stuff though.

Short life span

From what I have read about octo's, is that they all have lifespans from 1-2 years.
