I was at my lfs yesterday and saw some plecos labelled pleco king. I can't find much on them on the web. They seem to like floating in mid water, which is kinda cool. Will one be happy in a 30 gallon? A golden dwarf pleco I had in there just climbed right out today and I could replace him since I just got him but I really like the King PLeco but I have to know if I could get it becuase if I can't, I will return the dead one and gets it replaced for cheap.

Thank you in advance!

There is a pleco called the King Tiger L066. They are white with tons of black lines on the body. Can you give more description as to what they look like? One should be okay in a 30 for a long time. They are very slow growers. I have one and he is 4 inches and lives in a 29 gallon. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide.

No it isn't the king tiger pleco, they have them there too though. The one I am looking at is black and has grayish spots blended into it, almost like the colouring on a sailfin pleco. I think they can be best defined by the way the seem to float in the middle of the tank.

I think what you are looking at is a SnowKing Pl*co (pterygoplichthys anisitsi). Habitat is the Paraguay River. Grows to a maximum length of 24" in the wild and eats amost anything. These are being farmed in Florida dirt ponds. That maybe it.

First I'd cover the tank a little bit better...then replace the Golden Dwarf with another one.

Before that, though, do you know if your water quality is suffering? Is the tank in a high-traffic area where your Plec might not have felt comfortable? If yes to either, a change, respectively, in water or locale would be necessary prior to getting a new one.

Best of luck and HTH,

Matthew
