So I'm sitting here just now -- the filters are off in the tanks so I could feed everybody and I'm surfing the internet while I wait for all the food to be eaten before I turn the current back on.
I hear smacking, sucking, "kissy" sounds coming from one of the tanks. Loud!
I look up to see why the water is sucking back into the hoses of the filter (because that is the only thing I can imagine that would make such a loud sound).
I see a cory up at the top, at the waterline, making smacking kissy sounds. About 20 smacks. It sounded a little like that nibbling sound that the tiger barbs make when they snatch the floating food from the water surface -- only really loud!
He swam back down, went back up and did it again two more times! And after that he joined the rest of his crew down at the bottom in the sand.
I know they goof around and sometimes they shoot straight up and hit the lid before they go back down and sometimes the go up and down the glass sides. But in several years of having cories I've never seen/heard this.
Have you?
