I just got the Kleen Sweep vacuum by Marineland. It's very useful for vacuuming when you are not doing a water change. It runs off your air pump and has adjustable heights. It's a great maintenance gadget!

what size tank and what air pump are you using?

does it have sufficient "sucking" power?

I have the Rena Air 300. My tank is 80 gallons. The sucking power is more than enough! I had to turn down the air flow some. I highly recommend this vacuum!

what does it use to catch the debris?
There's a fine mesh bag that comes with it. Water goes thru it back in the tank. Very useful tool.....

With the mesh bag in the water, won't the poop & debris go through the net? When the air pushes the debris up, doesn't the poop break off into a zilllion pieces?

There is another product similar to that where air pushes up and out the debris and the water goes right through a receptacle that goes back into the tank. The debris is caught on a foam pad in the receptacle. I have seen it but have never tried it. The product is called gravel cleaner by SERA.

Has anyone seen, heard and have used this before? Any feedback? Thank you.

My Python cleans out the majority of "stuff" when doing water changes. This inexpensive Kleen Sweep is a secondary vacuum and works great. Even small particles are trapped in the fine mesh bag. This is a very useful product. :)

Curious there joe, why you didn't get a gravel cleaner that connects to your diatom ?
Kleen Sweep is a separate product and does not use diatom powder. I do have a gravel vacuum that attaches to my Vortex XL. It is an accessory Vortex product. I haven't used it yet since they reccommend using it on regular sized gravel, not sand or fine gravel. I need to give the Vortex vacuum a try anyway just to see if it would work on Onyx sand.
