knife fish tank

Im thinking of setting up my new 5 x 2 x 2 tank with a few knife fishes - one black ghost knife fish and two, maybe three african knife fish. The tank will be heavily planted, with rocky retreats and caves.

Does anyone think this wont work? Ive read that knife fish dont like thier own kind, but would the size of the tank and the amount of plants (etc) help?

Ive kept both these fish, (but always on thier own) and I've always found them to be super friendly and harmless.

Hey Roland,


I know that Black Ghosts emit minute electric pukses for naviation and hunting purposes. I am not sure if plain african kives do this also. If they do it won't work, because you are not supposed to have two "electrical" fish in the same tank.
