My mom always buy frozen "Featherback" aka asian knifefish from those asian markets. I cant describe the flavor because I think all freshwater fishes have that same texture and flavor, except fot salmon but yeah they are a popular sport/food fish over in southeast asia. If you look around your local asian supermarkets you'll probley find them.
thats crazy stuff! must be pretty good, and IMO I think freshly caught freshwater salmon and freshly caught trout have very different flavors if cooked the same way, so I guess I should see if we have an asian market around here and try it out, do a little taste test for you guys!!!!
Well I have been cruising around and on the elmersaquarium.com website it says that under community tank 5 where you can find the BGK can be held in a 10g which seems way too small for an 18" fish. At other forums, I have read where people have kept them in 30g, and a 55g at 16"
What are some good tank mates for a BGK?
Cichlids?
Red Tailed Shark?
Gourmai?
Rainbowfish?
Clown Loach?
If you expect him to be big, as I do, and healthy, the larger the better.
Some chiclids like green terrors and jack dempsey are no-no's. As are tiger barbs. I think severums, yellow lab, and milder ones are ok, but i'm not exactly sure. His water temp is a bit lower, preferably at 78 degrees, so this preference has to be kept in mind. I am thinking I will put mine in with silver or possibly marble hatchet, a couple plecos, and maybe yellow lab chiclid. And some cherry barb.
Or skip the yellow lab and put in 3 black angels, or catfish,
how about a Severum Cichlid? like the green? How big we talking too? at least 4 inches? are the ones listed too small? Note this would be going in a 72g 22" tall
