With the bkg you have to be patient. I was always worried that he wasn't getting enough to eat. What I would do at first is take a cup of tank water and melt a little chunk of frozen blood worms in it. I'd drop it from the top of the tank into the water so most of it fell in the substrate near where he hangs out. Drop just a bit at first to let him catch the smell. It won't be long before you see him out zipping all over hunting for the food. Then drop some more. Unfortunately, when they're small, they aren't very competive for food and the other fish find it faster. If he gets 5 or so pieces, he'll be fine. After a couple of months like mine, he'll sense the food really fast and zip to the top. Last night I had the pleasure of handfeeding him a nice chunk of shrimp. That's the first time I've done that so, it was cool. Just be patient. It gets more rewarding after he's accustomed to the tank and his tankmates. I'm sure during the night he'll be inspecting everything. They find security in the layout, so make any changes gradually. Like a blind person, they learn the layout of their environment, and soon will know everything in the tank. And if you change anything, he'll be the first to check it out.

You made nice fish choices, congratualtions. I'd keep only 2 clown loaches and later get a nice mango pleco. But that's just me :)

they found there spot so well hidden that I can't find them!
NO SIGN
I couldn't find the BGK, and I found him in the smallest hole in the log you could possibly find, if it wasn't for the white tipped tail, I wouldn't have found him! still can't find the loaches!
ya got fish that like to hide a lot...90% of the time you look at the tank they will be out of site.

personally unless its an algae crew I like to watch my fish swim...not hide in a hole. Thats why i dont recommend these fish to anyone.

That's what makes them rewarding. You've got the others swimming about all the time and then he makes an appearance. WOW!

Alot of people like plecos too, and you don't see much of them either ;)

Actually, at various times of the day, mine is out and about. That's ok with me. I suppose if you tank is really bright, with alot of wattage, it might make him shy.

^good points! I agree!
another great fish that is super cool is the rope fish.
They are about the coolest thing to watch and are very community friendly, although they will eat shrimp :)

well being a college kid, I am pretty mucha night person anyways! I also did the idea from this website http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=463317 with the led, and they all come mosing on about! Its great! I don't mind them hiding at all, gives me a challenge to find them!! Thats what the other fish are for anyways!

I saw some rope fish at my LFS last week, but they are gone today.
I watched them for a while, really freaky. Interesting yes. I was wondering if they are aggressive. I like different fish, I've seen enough tetra, barbs and platy that although I like them, gets a bit boring. Rope fish eh? In a community tank...sounds nice.

hmm rope fish, our LFS has one right now!
Ok so I dont' if the BGK is eating, so I think I am going to take him out and put him in my 20 gallon tank, where I can see him eat, good idea?

As long as they are in a tank with larger fish they are fine, but they will eat fish that they can fit in thier mouths. So your BGK would be fine with one but be careful if you want to add any smaller fish.

well he is only 2" long, tiny little guy I have been putting in bloodworms, just dont know if he is actually eating them

That's the problem, at first. I'd leave him there until he is accustomed to things. With the BKG, it takes awhile. Feed 2x - 3x per day. Mix the melted bloodworms in some tank water, a cup or so. Drop a little until he gets the scent and comes out. Then drop a little more, and do it again. If you see he gets a bite, that's ok. Eventually he'll learn and become more competitive. I went thru that too, a worrying. Its like being a mommy. hehehehehe
