I absolutely hate this Kodak "Easy-Share" digital camera. What good is a digital camera if you can't get the pictures out of the "darn" Kodak files? I admit that I'm computer illiterate, but I know how to get things to work most of the time. This da..rn camera won't let me put my pics anywhere except in my Kodak album. I use photobucket for picture hosting, but how do I get my pictures there?

Sorry for the rant, and if anyone knows a solution I'd be happy to hear it!

Hi Aqualung, I also have an EasyShare and a Photobucket.

What I do is download the pictures from my camera to the easy share album. Then I click on the picture I want, hold it down and drag it over to my desktop. So now the picture is on my desktop, I go into my photobucket account, click "Browse", and then click "Desktop"... find the pic file in there, and upload it.

I'm sure there's a faster/easier way to do it, but this is how I do it since i'm also computer illiterate!

Hope that helps!

Amy

Didn't the cam come with software? That's what uploads the pics to your PC. Once you've connected the USB cable from the cam to the PC port, the software recognizes the hardware and uploads the files. Or, you could go into my computer>drive E(or camera drive), click that open, and there should be a dated folder with the file contents of pics you took. If you click on any of those files, you should be able to lokk at it through the software viewer, and at the bottom of the screen there should be an option to 'add to collection'. That will upload the selected image into the software on on your pc.~Angela

Angela - yes I do have the software. It's not getting the pictures onto the computer that's a problem, it's being able to get them out of the "Kodak trap" (as I call it) that is the problem.

aknif - I'll give that a try, thanks!

Hmmm...Do you have a dock, or just connect via USB? I have 2 Kodak cameras, one that has a dock and one that I just connect via USB and on either, I can use the software to download the pictures to the specific folder that I want. I just hit the "Share'" button, and it pops up a window asking where I want the images saved to. I can browse to an existing folder, or create a new folder from that window.

I know this is 'off topic', but there's a nice website on cameras and digital photography.

It's www.dpreview.com

OG - I just connect with the USB. I tried to find a way to save them somewhere other than the Kodak album, but couldn't seem to get it to work. I'll try the "share" button again, it seems like I must have overlooked something. I'll probably like the camera and software once I get more familiar with it, but at the moment I find it frustrating. I'm kind of technologically challenged ;)

Don't worry... I've had my EasyShare for about 2 years now and I just learned how to record movie clips on the thing about 2 weeks ago...

I'm sure that the moment I finally get the thing figured out, my husband will declare it obsolete and come home with a new one... and that one will take me another 3 years to figure out.

:D
