There is a Kolh's opening up in my town in the next month or two and I have an interview set up to see if it is worth it to change jobs. Has anyone worked for Kohls or can tell what the company is like? Thanks

I worked for the local Kohl's here for almost 2 years. To be quite honest with you it was one of the most miserable jobs I have ever held. For me it wasn't so much the company, although they do have some really screwy policies, it was the management team. I had a terrible terrible terrible management team, nobody was ever on the same page, one of them sexually harrassed almost every woman in the store and when we went to the District manager to try to do something about it we were told we were over reacting and to just let it roll off our backs....wasn't real impressed with that.
If I were you I would still go on the interview, just make sure that you ask lots and lots of questions and see what type of vibe you get from management. Good luck!

Kohl's has an extremely high turnover rate. Why exactly Im not sure.

I believe that their payscale varies depending on location. What position are you interviewing for? Kohl's has very few fulltime associates, generally 1 per department (besides for management) I worked part time at customer service and by the time I left was making $7.75, my girl friend was fulltime, worked in womens, junior, misses and mens(softlines), she was the only fulltime person for those department, a lot was expected of her, she'd been there as long as I had (it was a new store that we had both opened) and was only making $7.00. In this area that is actually pretty good money, seeing as how Michigan's minimum wage is only like $5.50 or something, but I wouldn't go back there for all the money in the world.

Any kind of retail like that is only great short term. I worked at a clothing store for a while and got sick of the type of work. You wouldn't be talking about the one in Hampton Plaza behind Red Lobster would you? :D If so, it looks like it is going to be a nice one! When stores like this very first open they have someone from corporate there to make things go smooth. I would try it out. Worst case is you don't like it and you mve on. I do have a friend who has done retail work all his life and digs it.

As a matter of fact that is the Kohl's I am talking about. I work in the same shopping center at the moment. And I am doing the retail thing till I get out of college and get a teaching gig.

That's so funny! Small world! :hi: I shop at the unfinished furniture store ALL the time. I also love that little chinese food place. It's never busy and is so good. I live just outside Clarksville. I live at the Books a Million too! :joke: Hope the Khol's thing works out for you. I know having it in town will be a big hit.

My buddy works for Khols part time here as a second job and doesnt mind it. I shop there all the time (their clearence is section is awesome and i save a ton of money) everyone there is always real nice and seems happy. Its worth a shot and well you figure it must be better than walmart. oh BTW they pay around 8.50 here but minimum is 7.30 or something like that.
