Hi guys ive added a pacific sailfin tang today. I know that koran angels are aggresive towards other angels, but im a bit boggled as to its aggresiveness toward the sailfin.the sailfin is slightly bigger but the koran still chases and nips the SF's tail fin. I added these fish to my aquarium in the last week. i have quite a spacious 110 gal tank with about 40 kgs of LR. my LR is stacked to form a couple of caves but it might be too little, i dont know, suppose thats why im posing this Q. (Anyway for those thats read my previous thread on my white spot problem 2 weeks ago, it was sorted out before i added new livestock) and then i know there will probably be 90% of you that still think i should have given the tank a bit more time after adding new stock. :banhim:

You may just have a bully on your hand. More rock would defintely help but try to change what you have in the tank so that the Koran will be more worried about setting up a new territory versus defending what he saw as his previously. I'd keep a close eye on them and be prepared to move one or the other to QT

And yes, I'm surprised you not only added new stock so soon but that you didn't QT after dealing with ich.

I see it this way: there will always be a possibility of generating white spot by adding a new fish to the main setup. (dont get me wrong)Yes you can certainly narrow down the possibility percentage of a break out. I concentrate my effort of avoiding a break out, on, firstly, the initial inspection of the fish you are about to buy. If you buy a healthy, active and vibrant specimen, you should be ok ( but not guarenteed). Then i take great care in aclimatizing the fish to my main tank. And gently finally let it go. I have no problem with quarantining before addition to main tank, but at the moment i'll do it my way. when seeking advise Every body seems to have the perfect solution, the only problem is that out of say 5 people, you'lle get 7 opinions. I guess majority rules, but not one fish nor one setup is identical. For one guy it might work and for the next it wont. Guess what im trying to say is listen to what experienced guys tel you, take it as a foundation to work from, read alot, but dont be afraid to experiment within reason. :)

Understood. I felt the same way in fact. Until I tried just that thing and experienced a breakout.

But yes, I'll still gather information and decide what will work best for me and completely appreciate someone else doing the same.

HI (grins) i shuffled the decoration around a little. It didnt seem to work. The Koran is a bit more leanient toward the SF but still nips it's tailfin. I will give them until monday morning to sort each other out. If there is no change after 3 days ( from friday) i would have to force my self to evict the koran and take him back. Dont want to do that because he is easily the strongest fish i ever bought (and my GF's favorite fishy). :( But somethings gotta give. The sailfin has one or two really minor tears in its fin, so its not like he's being torn appart. will update tommorow.:headshake2:

Hi guys, the aggresion seems to have faded slightly. The Sailfin's tailfin is looking better. However there is still the odd nip n chase.:(
