Kribs and Cories?

I've heard from some sources that cories and kribs don't match because they inhabit the same stratum of the tank, and when it comes time for the Kribs to mate, it'll be bad news for the cories. I've also read from other sources that they are very suitable tankmates... I guess it boils down to the size of the tank...

...And now for the question: I want to get a pair of kribs for my 25g that's almost through the cycle. I also would like to get a shoal of 4 small cories, most likely pandas (if possible). Would this work out, or should I just stick to higher strata fish?

I've had kribs and coried together before... a pair + 4 cories in a 20 gallon

they wouldn't really bother them too much other than when they were breeding, and even then they just chased them away and never did any harm

kribs dont really tend to pick on a fish.... they just chase them away from thier territory

I tried it in a 38g... it was *okay* but the kribs were too distracted with an apisto to care much about the cories.. but if the apisto was out of site, the male krib hammered on the cories every chance he got.

IMO, you're chancing it with the cories. The kribs didn't both my kuhli loaches, however, they are an option if you're interested.

The only thing about kuhli loaches is my woman is ophidiphobic (afraid of snakes) and I think the kuhlis would freak her out. I'll just save the cories the possible trauma and get some for my 10 gallon once I finish planting.

Here's what I have in mind for the kribs: a school of black neons, a snail, and a pair or trio of dwarf frogs.

I think kuhlis are really cool and unique looking fish- I'll look into em. Any other suggestions for tankmates with kribs?

kribs and cories

I think kribs get a bad rap. I've kept them in my tetra tank with cories and tetras. All they do is chase fish out of their territory. They get a little more aggressive when spawning, but have never harmed or killed any of my fish. I currently have a pair in a 10 gal breeding, there is also 5 cories in there. No problems. I have a pair in my Malawi tank, no problems there either, there is a pair in one of my tang tanks also. I think they are beautiful fish and devoted parents and are interesting to watch. Don't mistake defending a territory as aggression. Watch them a while and usually as soon as the intruder leaves the area, the krib will return home and leave the intruder alone, until another enters their domain.
