Kribs not Breeding?

My kribs have been in a 10 since july with a pleco and tetra. I know, cramped. Got a tank that is somewhere between 20 and 30 gal lined up for an unbelievably cheap price. But anyways, my kribs would lay eggs and then eat them in 2 week cycles before. A month ago, they stopped laying eggs period. The only change was that I lowered the temp about 2 degrees, but I moved it back. The water has been changed several times between then and now, leaving only about 20% of the water in the tank. I know that the small size is stressing them out, making them eat the eggs. But why the sudden stop? The female is almost always bright red, but it's hard to tell if she is full of roe. I'm hoping that the tank size will halt this, but is it possible that something else is at play here? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

So how long will this last for? I really want fry.

Sadly, this post does not need to be answered anymore. I bought a tetra submersible heater on Wednesday to replace my old one which broke while I was cleaning my tank. The new heater is supposed to keep the temperature monitored at 78 degrees +/- 2 through a built in thermostat. When I came home last night, my tank was at 110 degrees, and all but my pleco died. I replaced them all today. The new kribs are much smaller, but what can you expect?

P.S. I urge anyone who reads this that has one of these to monitor them very closely. At a different pet store from where I bought the heater in the first place, I was told that there was a recall on these a year or too ago. So watch them if you have one!

Mmm, yes, I had the opposite problem. Mine wouldn't keep the tank warm enough. It would barely get up to 72, even though it was only a 16g tank and the heater was rated for, if I remember correctly, up to 25g tanks. Haven't looked at it since I took replaced it a while back, so I'm not sure. But, it sucked. Btw, love my new Jager Eheim heater. :)

I decided ti replace it with the same one. I am monitoring it very closely. I would have gotten a different one, but it was the only decent one around for that price. I could have gotten one somewhere else, but it would have been very expensive. I also could ahve bought one at a website I use that has very low prices, but their shipping is pricy and I needed one right then. Thanks for the advice.

Another thing: Both of the new kribs came from the same place, and all of the fry are raised in a pond together there. When I bought the two of them, I spent 10+ minutes watching the tank. I noticed a female that was bright red (the only one) defending a castle-cave, letting nothing near her/it. Inside, was a male. When I had them pick up the castle, 3 males fought for about another 5 minutes. I narrowed it down to two, and then noticed that one male in the back let no fish get near him. Except for the female I had already picked out. He also seemed to be the dominant one. Since they tolerated only each other, and they were both dominant over their sexes, I surmised that they had paired already. If I was RIGHT, how long will it take until they start breeding? If I was WRONG, how long will it take? They are both old enough to breed.

Kribs not Breeding

You guys have to help me out. I have had trouble breeding my Kribs of all fish - for the past three years I have tried changing water more regularly, cichlid conditioner, you name it. I regularly check the pH and it is always around 7.4. The female will lay eggs, guard the cave, but in a couple of days shes back swimming around the tank and no eggs. This last time, she laid her eggs and stayed guarding them for a days...longer than normal. I thought I had it. The male also stayed around the cave also guarding it. Is my male just not fertilizing the eggs. Infertile? Can I put two males in the same tank? Two females? 36 gallon hex. This is really getting frustrating.
