Kribs without the broods

Is there a way of keeping Kribs without having to constantly worry about what to do with the fry? Can I keep a single one in a small community tank or can I keep a couple of the same sex? Would they be happy like this?

I would love to see them do their stuff with the babies but what the heck do you do with all those babies?

Just let the pair do their thing. Don't do anything special for the little guys, that will wittle the numbers down a ton, and when they reach an inch and half or so, just take them to the petstore and trade them for store credit or something. They won't spawn untill their last spawn has left and can fend for themselves.

If you buy a pair they will be aggressive towards other fish in the tank. Mine started chasing all the other away when they first spawned. Their babies will eaten eventually but the pair is still claiming a territory in the tank.

I think a single fish would be your best bet if you don't want much aggression.

Gotta play the Devil's advocate here, but the breeding pair I had, untill the brood was free swimming, would only defend a small portion of the tank. Aggression wasn't bad at all, they didn't even really bother the cories. I think the biggest thing is getting a compatible pair. Puma and I bought 4, and let them pair off on their own in a seperate tank. Then moved them to their new homes, they were even kept with discus and no probs.

You could keep a solitary male or female... or get a pair. but i would advise against two of the same sex they might fight with each other unless the tank is quite large. however i have never tried this so i can't say for certian.

even let the kribs have thier babies and leave them to fend for themselves. dont do anything special for them. they will prolly get picked off by other fish... and if you have one or two grow up to adulthood then great! do like NatakuTseng said and trade them in at the lfs.

or they can be used as feeders as all my rift-lake keeping fish-friends say :sad
